LeadingAge Ohio and members awarded Preceptorship grant through ODE

This week, LeadingAge Ohio received notice that it had been approved for funding through the Ohio Department of Education for paid internships for high school students in two member facilities. Autumnwood Care Center (Tiffin) and Memory Lane Care Services (Toledo) will each serve as preceptorship sites to students wishing to pursue healthcare careers. Additionally, Jennings (Garfield Heights) and Ohio Masonic Home (Springfield) were individually awarded with funds for this preceptorship program as well.

High school students from nearby schools will choose between clinical/nursing and business administration tracks to learn the inner-workings of aging services. Students will leave the preceptorship with their Elder Care Certificate and CPR certification, as well as a clear understanding of how to obtain other industry-recognized credentials and the immediate next steps to pursue a career in the field of aging. LeadingAge Ohio is excited for this opportunity in helping provide opportunities for students to engage with member facilities and prepare for careers in aging.

Questions related to LeadingAge Ohio’s workforce initiatives may be directed to Randi Hamill, Workforce Director at rhamill@leadingageohio.org.
